PhD Studentship: Authority and Trust in American Culture, Society, History, and Politics (University of Heidelberg)
The Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA) at Heidelberg University, Germany, invites applications for a Three-Year Position (Part-Time, 65%) (October 1, 2017 – September 30, 2020) in a Research Training Group (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg) on Authority and Trust in American Culture, Society, History, and Politics Funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), the interdisciplinary Training Group will focus on three broadly defined research areas: (1) the authority of the modern state and trust in public and social institutions; (2) the urban dimension of authority and trust; (3) authority and trust in literature, culture and religion. We target postgraduates with a background in the following disciplines: American Studies, geography, history, linguistics, literature and culture, political science, social science, and religious studies.
