Applications are invited for a Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) in modern history. The successful applicant will register for a PhD on a topic of her or his own choice, but one which must fall broadly within one of the following areas: Darwinism, eugenics, race, birth control, or infanticide.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. David Stack, will receive mentoring and training, and will contribute to the Department’s teaching of modern history.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach no more than 6 hours a week from year one of the PhD.
You will have:
– a First Class degree and/or a MA Distinction, or predicted Distinction
– evidence of research and dissertation excellence
– ideas for a PhD project related to one or more of the following: Darwinism, eugenics, race, birth control, or infanticide
– clear teaching potential
