With reference to the lives and work of musicians such as Huddie ‘Lead Belly’ Ledbetter and Robert Johnson, Sam Richards explores how folklorists and commercial promoters shaped the enduring myths associated with jazz and blues traditions.

Sam Richards is a musician, writer and music historian.
