Overview:

The School of Politics and International Relations is pleased to announce that we are seeking to appoint an exceptional scholar to take up the position of Lecturer in US Politics from September 2016. Internationally recognised for its commitment to high quality research, the School strives to combine efficient organisation with a congenial, collegiate atmosphere that encourages collective as well as individual excellence.

We particularly welcome applicants with a research focus on the domestic politics and government of the United States, or those with expertise in aspects of US Foreign Policy and international relations. Applicants must have a developing reputation for internationally excellent research and an established record of high quality publications. The person appointed will offer research supervision and contribute to the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. The successful candidate will deliver and convene our new undergraduate module, US Politics (POL250). The post-holder will also be expected to make a contribution to first year teaching, and to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £39,745 – £41,969 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
