You will be a lecturer in Twentieth-Century American Cultural History within the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Humanities.

You will be expected to conduct research in an aspect of interdisciplinary American cultural history, broadly conceived, with a focus on the long twentieth century. You will contribute to and design research-led undergraduate modules in American cultural history, and supervise postgraduate research students in American history and culture (and related areas).

A specialism in any aspect of American cultural history Is essential, and with expertise in Western, Native American, and/or environmental history; visual culture, music or other popular culture; science, technology and/or capitalism; immigration, urban and/or labour history; ethnic studies; transnationalism; gender and sexuality is desirable.

You will report directly to the Head of American Studies and work under the supervision of the Head of Division and the Head of School. You will be a committed teacher and strong communicator, who will collaborate closely with colleagues in the delivery of teaching and learning, taking a share of responsibilities for student progress and academic management.
