Professor Ann McGrath (Director of the Australian Centre for Indigenous History, Australian National University) is interested in deep history, gender and nation and is committed to public outreach via her work in Museums, Commissions of Enquiry and in legal cases. Her last film, Message from Mungo (Ronin Films 2014) co-directed with Andrew Pike, won the United Nations of Australia Media Award. Professor McGrath is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal.
Professor McGrath will be speaking about her latest book, for which she won the 2016 New South Wales Premier’s Prize for History: ‘Illicit Love: Interracial Sex and Marriage in the United States and Australia’ (University of Nebraska Press, 2015).
