The College wishes to recruit a Lecturer in Twentieth-Century/Contemporary Literature (Education and Scholarship). This full time post is available from 1^st September 2016 to 30^th June 2017.

The post will involve teaching within the English department, both on general survey modules (such as The Novel and Beginnings) and on modules concerned specifically with recent North American literature (such as Empire of Liberty and Crossing the Water). The successful applicant will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent in North American Literature of the Twentieth and/or Twenty-First Centuries. They will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. They will participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.

The successful applicant will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching. Staff at this level are expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
