Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in 19th/20th Century American History, University of Manchester

The University of Manchester invites applications for the position of Lecturer in 19th/20th Century American History. Applicants will be able to teach a range of undergraduate courses in American History, with a particular focus on the 19th and 20th centuries.  You will be expected to teach seminar groups on the first year course From Reconstruction to Reagan; design and deliver the lectures and seminars for a second year course on an aspect of American Politics and/or History; supervise second year History Long Essays; design and deliver a third year option; and supervise third year dissertations.

You will have a completed PhD in an aspect of 19th and 20th Century American History, have a proven ability to provide high-quality teaching to a range of student groups at different levels, have a proven ability to manage all aspects of course administration, including setting and marking assessed work and be able to contribute to other related areas of teaching as agreed with the Head of English / Head of Division. This lectureship is available from 1 September 2016 for 22 months.
