Junior Professorship in North American Literature

The successful applicant will be required to assume responsibilities in research and teaching in North American Literature.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

The successful candidate will have a PhD with an excellent dissertation in North American Literature, experience in university teaching and research (preferably internationally) as well as experience with sponsored research.

The appointee will be prepared to work in an interdisciplinary environment on the development and management of research projects and teaching at the John F. Kennedy Institute and the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. She or he will participate in developing and teaching of the courses at the John F. Kennedy Institute and address aspects of Gender Studies in research and teaching. Duties will include departmental service.

The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial period of three years. Provided that her or his performance is thereafter evaluated positively, employment may be extended for three more years.
