The University of Hull seeks to appoint a fixed term Teaching Fellow in American Studies.
The postholder will be responsible for convening and delivering one second year and one final year module over the course of one academic year on topics in American History and Culture. In addition, the post holder will provide lectures and tutorials in the first year core American History survey modules, as well as one lecture in each of the modules ‘Interpreting American Culture’ and ‘American Film and Society’.
In their role as module convenor, the postholder would be expected to design and deliver their modules, including supervising students’ work, setting assessment and marking. In addition, there will be a requirement that the postholder contributes to the moderating of marks within American Studies. Other duties include, but are not limited to, provision of weekly office hours during teaching periods, and attendance at relevant staff and School committee meetings.
This post is ideal as an early academic career opportunity. It is expected that role holders will be developing their skills and competencies in a way which will promote growth into the full academic role. Newly appointed staff at this level will teach as a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within an established programme of study, with the support of a mentor as per induction procedures.
This is a fixed term post between 1 September 2015 until 31 January 2016.
