As part of a sustained phase of investment by the College of Arts and Law at the University of Birmingham, the University of Birmingham are seeking to appoint a Professor of Contemporary American Literature for the start of the 2015/16 academic year. The appointee will work in partnership with their vibrant and creative staff to deliver an ambitious strategy, which has interdisciplinarity and intellectual collaboration in teaching and research at its heart. The appointee will take a senior role in developing research in American literature within the Department of English Literature, following the restructuring of the School in September 2013. The new Professor will contribute to two research groups: the new American and Canadian Studies Centre (created in 2014) and contemporary literature in the English Department.
