JOB: Program Manager (U.S. Embassy

March 29, 2017

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager to join the U.S. Embassy London’s Cultural Affairs Office. This will be a fast paced and high pressure career opportunity where you will play an integral part in managing all aspects of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the IVLP-on-Demand Program and post-funded exchange programs.

Creativity and meticulous planning are key attributes you will need to have to do the job. It is a role that will vary from day to day – from arranging visits of UK exchange program participants – to direct interfacing with exchange program alumni, members of UK society, business, senior government officials and other prominent UK opinion leaders. Are you familiar with UK academic, political, business, social and cultural influencers? You will be called upon to utilize your professional contacts of key stakeholders within these sectors while at the same time cultivate new partnerships with UK Government ministers, senior UK civil servants and senior academics.

Your portfolio will be extensive and you will also assist the Senior Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer (ACAO) and the Cultural Affairs Officer (CAO) in a variety of other projects that may include: drafting Notice of Funding Opportunity documents, cables and memos for the Ambassador; organizing events, particularly those that include alumni contacts; handling enquiries on exchange, educational and cultural matters; liaising with U.S. Consulates in Belfast, Edinburgh and Hamilton regarding exchange participants and alumni in their districts; and providing backup to other Cultural Office staff in their absence.

This career opportunity promises to be varied and challenging. On occasion, we will require a flexible approach to working overtime outside of regular work hours (weekends, evenings and public holidays).
