John G. Winant Associate Professorship in US Foreign Policy, Oxford University

The Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford is an internationally renowned centre of excellence for teaching and research. The study of these disciplines at Oxford has a long and distinguished history and the department is one of the largest in the field in the UK.
The department, in association with Nuffield College, now seeks to appoint an inspirational teacher and an accomplished research scholar to the John G Winant Associate Professorship in US Foreign Policy. This post is full-time, and subject to completion of a successful review, permanent and is available from September 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter. This joint appointment will be held in conjunction with a Non-Tutorial Professorial Fellowship at Nuffield College.
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced research in the field of US foreign policy, to take part in graduate teaching in International Relations including a graduate course in US foreign policy, and to participate in supervision, examining, assessment and the admission of students to the department and college.
Applications are welcomed from outstanding candidates with research and teaching expertise in any major aspect of American foreign policy and of the role of the United States in world politics.
The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in international relations and/or political science or associated field and will have a strong record of research at an international level along with an exciting vision for future research. Demonstrable ability and commitment to provide outstanding class, supervision and tutorial teaching to high-achieving and challenging MPhil and DPhil students in international relations are essential.
