Graduate Teaching Assistantships in History (University of Liverpool)

Liverpool has been a world leader in historical research and teaching for over 100 years. The world-renowned expertise of our historians and their innovative, international and interdisciplinary approaches to the discipline have established us as a leading centre for medieval, early modern and modern British, European, American and World History. The department hosts a number of highly active research seminar series and we also contribute to the following inter-disciplinary research centres:

·        Liverpool Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies
·        Eighteenth-Century Worlds Research Centre
·        Centre for the Study of International Slavery
·        Centre for Port and Maritime History

We invite applications for two Graduate Teaching Fellowships (starting September 2016) in:
·        Medieval and Renaissance studies
·        History of crime and criminality
·        Post-war British culture and society
·        US and European political history
·        Economic history and the history of economic thought
·        Imperial and colonial history
·        Military history
·        Medical history
·        Slavery and the slave trade
·        Intellectual history
·        Specific area studies, including Latin America, China, and Africa

The fellowships last four years and successful candidates will have their fees (at Home/EU rate) waived throughout the 4 years of their PhD. In addition, they will be paid a maintenance stipend:

Stipend/£ p.a. (Years 1-4): ~£14057*
Teaching hours in years 1 and 2: 90 contact hours
(*adjusted annually in line with AHRC maintenance grants)

Candidates should have a good first degree and hold (or be about to complete) a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
