AHRC 10th Anniversary Consultative Workshop for PGRs and ECRs (University of Birmingham)

November 19, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The AHRC is marking its tenth anniversary in 2015 through a number of activities designed to showcase the achievements of the arts and humanities research community over the last decade, to look forward to the coming decade and to celebrate the role of the arts and humanities in all areas of our national life.

In preparation for these activities, the organisers would like to invite Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) based in UK HEIs or Independent Research Organisations (IROs) to apply to take part in a consultative workshop that will help to shape the AHRC’s tenth anniversary celebrations in 2015.

The workshop

The day-long event will bring together around 50 PGRs and ECRs from across disciplines to explore potential themes for anniversary events and the best ways of communicating to diverse audiences the value of arts and humanities research. In particular, the workshop will explore ideas around design, including visualisation, social media, branding and messaging.

The event promises to offer attendees wonderful networking opportunities and lively debate about the role of the AHRC over the last ten years and in the coming decade. This is your chance to offer advice to the AHRC on how best to imagine its past and its future. Participants may be able to play a continuing role throughout the tenth anniversary, and this consultation offers a chance to gain an insight into the broader arts and humanities sector and gain transferable skills applicable within and outside of academia.

The consultation workshop will be hosted by the Digital Humanities Hub (University of Birmingham) 10am – 4pm on Wednesday 19 November 2014 and will be run in partnership with the AHRC, the AHRC Commons Fellow, and the School of Museum Studies (University of Leicester).

Refreshments will be provided at the event and successful applicants will be able to claim standard class travel expenses and, if unable to travel to and from the venue within a day, one night of accommodation.
