March 4, 2016

Full Professor, Raymond and Beverly Sackler Chair of History and Culture of the United States,   1,0fte
Vacancy nr. 16-027

Since its establishment in 1966, the chair in North-American history, which in 2002 became the The Raymond and Beverly Sackler Chair for History and Culture of the United States and the Americas, has occupied a prominent place in the Faculty of Humanities of Leiden University. Previous holders of the chair have concentrated particularly on themes in twentieth century political history and political culture, both in research and in teaching. Courses dealing with these topics continue to attract large numbers of students, but there is also a strong interest in the social history of the United States and in nineteenth-century North-American history.

The appointment will start on 1 September 2016 or as soon as possible after this date.
