Lecturer in History, St Catharine’s College, Cambridge University

November 30, 2015

St Catharine’s College, Cambridge invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a College Lectureship in History tenable for five years in the first instance, but with the possibility of renewal to retirement thereafter, to begin from a date no later than 1 October 2016.

The College is seeking a specialist in the fields of Modern British or European History (1500 to the present day), or World History, or in American History.  The post-holder will be required to undertake 12 hours of small group College teaching per week during Terms (in total 240 hours per year), and will be expected to assume a role as one of the College Directors of Studies in History, for which additional payment is made. College Lecturers are normally elected to a College Fellowship, which carries a range of other benefits and responsibilities.

The post-holder will be required to undertake and publish research in History of the standard associated with successful consideration under the recent Research Excellence Framework. There may be further opportunities to contribute to teaching programmes in the Faculty of History. Remuneration will be at an appropriate point on the scale for Cambridge University Lecturers, depending on qualifications and experience.

Applications, including a full curriculum vitae, a piece of written work of no more than 12,000 words, and the names of two referees, should be submitted online via https://app.casc.cam.ac.uk/fas_live/cth_history.aspx. The closing date (for the receipt of applications and references) is 30 November 2015. Further particulars can be found via the link http://www.caths.cam.ac.uk/vacancies. Information on St Catharine’s College can also be found on the College Website at www.caths.cam.ac.uk.
