York St John are looking to make an appointment in the area of American Studies. You will teach on the existing undergraduate programme including at level 4. In addition, you will be involved in the development of new curriculum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: nineteenth and twentieth century American cultural history and contemporary American popular culture (film and popular music) as well as experience in the use of the digital humanities. You will also be expected to co-ordinate and liaise with colleagues in developing the American Studies research culture across the Humanities Department.
You will be joining a faculty which places a strong focus on interactive, digitally-innovative and research-informed teaching. You will be joining a team which hosts its own Research Series, collaborates annually with the York Literature Festival, and actively contributes to the university’s established and rapidly developing research culture.
You will hold a PhD in American Studies and have successful teaching experience at HE level.
You will be expected to engage with the research culture of the Faculty of Arts, including supervising research students, as well as undertaking administrative and recruitment roles within the Department of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts.
