The Drue Heinz Professor will lead the faculty’s work in American Literature, further develop our provision at graduate level, and help fulfil our aspiration to make Oxford the obvious first choice for graduates and scholars wishing to work on American Literature in the UK. The Professor will lecture and give instruction in North American Literature, and will be required to engage in the study of and research into American literatures and cultures.
The holder of the post will be characterised by intellectual drive, a vision for the future of the discipline, extensive experience of effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a record of outstanding research with international calibre, as well as a readiness to contribute significantly to the further enhancement of Oxford’s profile as a leading centre for work in American literary studies.
