Informal BAAS Theatre Meetup – Sam Shepard’s True West at London’s Tricycle Theatre
BAAS members interested in an informal London meet up to catch up after the summer and kick off the new academic year are encouraged to book tickets for the Saturday 4 October 3pm matinee of the critically acclaimed production of Sam Shepard’s True West at London’s Tricycle Theatre: Austin ‘the achiever’, an earnest screenwriter on the verge of success, is working on a script he has sold to a Hollywood producer while house-sitting for his mother in LA. When his brother Lee ‘the drifter’ and petty thief decides to stop by, he pitches his own idea for a movie and convinces the producer to ditch Austin’s love story for his own trashy Western tale. “America is on its way out as a culture,” Shepard suggested in this recent Guardian interview: http://www.theguardian.com/stage/2014/sep/07/sam-shepard-true-west-philip-seymour-hoffman-robin-williams-observer-interview?CMP=twt_gu Anyone planning to attend should book their ticket online, and let Laura MacDonald (laura.macdonald@port.ac.uk) know by Friday 26 October if you would like to join for a post-show bbq dinner at http://www.one-sixty.co.uk (Mains range from £9-21.50) |
