African American Playwrights: The 20th Century

Saturday 27 February, 10.30am – 4.30pm and Sunday 28 February 11am – 1.30pm Cottesloe Room, Clore Learning Centre, National Theatre
£70 (£55 concessions, bursaries available)

Enjoy a weekend exploring some of the best-known as well as overlooked black American dramatists of the 20th Century.
Over two days we will cover playwrights including Lorraine Hansberry, August Wilson, Ted Ward, Theodore Browne, Amiri Baraka, Alice Childress and Ntozake Shange.
You will have the opportunity to hear from directors and playwrights and watch play extracts performed by actors.
Speakers include Paulette Randall (theatre director), Bonnie Greer (playwright and critic) Natasha Bonnelame (previously Black Archive Project Manager) and Michael Pearce (University of Exeter).
