Assisting International Applications for the 2015 SHAFR Conference
The American Foreign Relations Network (AFRN) assists international colleagues, both Faculty and graduate students, draft proposals and connect with other scholars to create panels for the 2015 SHAFR Conference in Arlington VA (25-27 June 2015). SHAFR has made efforts to broaden its membership in recent years and is eager to continue the process of welcoming groups historically under-represented at meetings, widen its intellectual make-up, include scholars offering diverse methodological approaches and new topics, and incorporate scholars from outside the United States.
AFRN particularly provides assistance and advice on:
AFRN provides suggestions and feedback to colleagues, especially those new to SHAFR and its annual conference, with the aim of improving the chances of panels being accepted.
SHAFR is particularly keen to attract international scholars and has set aside some travel funds – the SHAFR Global Scholars and Diversity Grant – to assist with the costs of travelling to Arlington next year. Applicants must have panels accepted to take up a successful funding decision, and AFRN will assist colleagues with submissions.
Please note that AFRN is not part of the SHAFR Program Committee. It liaises with the SHAFR Membership Committee to help international scholars submit stronger proposals. This DOES NOT GUARANTEE panel acceptance or successful funding decisions.
For general information on the 2015 conference, including submission and funding details, see http://www.shafr.org/conferences/annual/2015-annual-meeting. The deadline is 1 December 2014.
