The Department of English at King’s College London wishes to appoint a lecturer in English for a fixed-term period of one year. This is to replace Professor Paul Gilroy who has been awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship commencing in September 2016. Applicants must be able to teach his MA Modules ‘The Transatlantic in Literature’ and ‘African-American Literature and the Problem of Music’. They will also teach his BA modules ‘US Slavery and the Literary Imagination’ and ‘Intellectuals of the Black Atlantic’. In addition they will participate in the first-year undergraduate English module ‘Reading Poetry’. Applicants must be active researchers, and be able to offer some postgraduate research supervision and to contribute to the research culture in the Department.

The post will be based at the Virginia Woolf Building, King’s Strand Campus.
