The Arts and Humanities Research Council is pleased to announce that it will join the the Natural Environment Research Council and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council policy internship scheme.
Ian Lyne, Associate Director of Research for the AHRC commented: “Arts and humanities researchers across a wide range of disciplines can make an important contribution to policy-making in a range of areas. This scheme is a great opportunity for PhD students to gain experience of working in a policy environment and to build on the skills that they have developed during the course of their research.”
Successful applicants will either contribute to a policy briefing paper, participate in a policy enquiry or organise a policy event or workshop.The scheme has eight host organisations these include three parliamentary bodies and five non-parliamentary organisations. For AHRC-funded students the host organisations available are British Library, National Assembly for Wales Research Service, Royal Society and Scottish Parliament Information Centre.
